Judi Bola, Mpobos.com -After two games with no victory, players of Guimaraes managed to get a victory in a 1:0 three-pointer against Santa Clara at home last Saturday afternoon.
It should be said that their victory was fully deserved this time, controlling the ball mostly and having better chances overall.
It was especially obvious in the second halftime, as the home team really increased the tempo and pressured their opponents a lot.
Their goal finally came in the first minute of added time, via Silva Sousa but as already said – fully deserved. The team now stands at the sixth position with just four points less than fourth and Europa League placed Sporting.
The team bases their performances and positive rankings mostly thanks to good home results.
Defensive midfielder Wakaso is out injured for the hosts, same as offensive John (4/0), midfielder Amoah (4/2) and goalkeeper Luiz who didn’t perform yet.
After a run of seven consecutive victories in various competitions, players of Porto succumbed to a surprising 1:2 loss at home last Friday night.
Even though they had their chances into the game, it should be said that this time Porto simply didn’t have the completely right approach and weren’t anywhere creative nor effective in the attack.
The circumstances went in favor of Braga, as the guests took the lead in the sixth minute already, while Porto missed two penalties during the clash. Still, once they had the 1:1 result, it was Braga who proved to be more efficient.
Porto is now seven points behind the leaders from Benfica and this competition remains a way to redeem themselves a bit now.
Forward Ze Luis (12/7) is out injured for the guests. Central defender Pepe (14/1) is doubtful, same as offensive midfielder Nakajima (12/0).
Since it’s a Cup game and Porto remains a favorite, the home team should be attacking and risking as well. Guimaraes anyway is in a good form now and with Porto’s confidence at the question, the home team scoring too should be quite a safe option this time.
